Bacon Loaded Mac N ' Cheese

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 3/4 cup of uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 fry bacon till lightly crisp, crumble and set aside.
  • 3 cook macaroni according to directions on pasta box, and drain.
  • 4 in the same pan as you cooked the pasta, melt margarine and add flour.
  • 5 cook for about 3 minutes,until flour taste is cooked away.
  • 6 add milk a little at a time, stir until flour is well blended.
  • 7 remove from heat and add 3/4 cup of cheese, stirring until melted ( at this point, you may add a bit more milk if it's too thick ).
  • 8 add pasta, crumbled bacon, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • 9 pour into a greased a 1 1/2 quart baking dish, sprinkle top with remaining cheese.
  • 10 bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or longer if you like a more golden cheesy top.
