Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • Servings: 9
  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm milk (scalded then cooled)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup margarine or 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2-4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve yeast in water.
  • 2 stir in milk, sugar, shortening, salt, egg, and 2 cups flour.
  • 3 beat until smooth.
  • 4 add more flour until dough is easy to handle.
  • 5 knead 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • 6 place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double. (1 ½ hours).
  • 7 mix 1 cup sugar with 4 tablespoons cinnamon.
  • 8 roll out dough, sprinkle on some of cinnamon and sugar mixture, cut into 1 inch by 6 inch strips.
  • 9 tie strips into knots (bows), dip into butter, then cinnamon/sugar.
  • 10 place in 9 by 13 pan, drizzle butter over, let rise 30 to 40 minutes.
  • 11 bake 375 for 15 to 20 minutes. watch closely.
