Brown Rice Louise

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon margarine (may sub butter)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large granny smith apple, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 cook rice as per the directions on the package (usually bringing water to a boil, adding rice, returning to a boil, reducing to a simmer, cover and cook for 45 minutes).
  • 2 in a nonstick pan, saute onion in margarine until transparent (about 3-5 minutes).
  • 3 add chopped apple and brown together for 5 minutes.
  • 4 add the cooked rice and heat through. . .tossing gently. serve.
