Buckingham Palace Scones

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 18 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 3/4 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 425°f.
  • 2 sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 chop in the butter until the particles of butter are the size of coarse cornmeal.
  • 4 add the egg and milk. stir quickly and lightly, only until no flour shows.
  • 5 add more milk if needed to make dough soft.
  • 6 turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead gently about 15 times.
  • 7 cut the dough in half. shape each half into a ball, press each down into a round and cut into 8 wedges like a pie.
  • 8 place the wedges on a greased (i use parchment) cookie sheet without allowing the sides to touch.
  • 9 bake until golden brown about 12 minutes.
