Buckingham Palace Scones

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 egg (slightly beaten)
- 3/4 cup milk
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 425°f.
- 2 sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- 3 chop in the butter until the particles of butter are the size of coarse cornmeal.
- 4 add the egg and milk. stir quickly and lightly, only until no flour shows.
- 5 add more milk if needed to make dough soft.
- 6 turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead gently about 15 times.
- 7 cut the dough in half. shape each half into a ball, press each down into a round and cut into 8 wedges like a pie.
- 8 place the wedges on a greased (i use parchment) cookie sheet without allowing the sides to touch.
- 9 bake until golden brown about 12 minutes.
