Baked Ziti

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon leaf oregano, crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 8 ounces ziti pasta, cooked and drained

Recipe

  • 1 sauté onion in oil until it's tender.
  • 2 add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
  • 3 simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
  • 4 preheat oven to 375ºf.
  • 5 coat casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • 6 combine ricotta and 1/2 of the mozzarella in a large bowl.
  • 7 add cooked ziti and half of the sauce.
  • 8 stir.
  • 9 turn into prepared casserole dish and pour on the remaining sauce.
  • 10 sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  • 11 bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
