Creamy Parmesan Mushroom Chicken

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 4 -5 boneless chicken breasts 
-  salt and pepper 
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil (or as needed) 
- 1 small onion, chopped 
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (or to taste) 
- 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms 
- 1/4 cup butter 
- 5 teaspoons flour 
- 1 cup half-and-half cream or 1 cup whole milk 
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 
Recipe
- 1 prepare a large serving dish or plate (make certain that it has high sides to hold the sauce from spilling). 
- 2 season chicken with salt and pepper. 
- 3 brown and cook the chicken breasts in oil on both sides until juices run clear and chicken is cooked through. 
- 4 place the cooked chicken in the serving dish. 
- 5 in the same frypan, saute the onions, garlic and fresh mushrooms in 1/4 cup butter until onions are soft (about 4-5 minutes). 
- 6 sprinkle with flour; stir until coated (about 1 minute). 
- 7 add in cream or milk (if using) bring to a boil simmer for about 2 minutes or until thickened. 
- 8 remove from heat. 
- 9 stir in 1/2 cup parmesan cheese. 
- 10 and pour the sauce over chicken in serving dish. 
- 11 sprinkle with more grated parmesan cheese before serving.
