Cabbage Casserole

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb jimmy dean sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 can rotel tomatoes
  • 2 -3 lbs cabbage, cut up
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Recipe

  • 1 brown ground meat and sausage.
  • 2 (i usually don't drain).
  • 3 add bell pepper and celery.
  • 4 add cabbage, tomatoes, rice and water.
  • 5 cook until cabbage wilts.
  • 6 mix together cheese, milk, butter and flour; add to cabbage mixture.
  • 7 bake in a casserole dish (approx. 9x13) for 30-45 minutes at 400 degrees, uncovered.
  • 8 (this can be frozen before baking).
